Automatic messages for students

Mensajes automáticos para los estudiantes - G-Talent.Net

Jerotshi Cáceres |

You will be prompted to create an automated message before submitting the course for review. These messages are optional, but are a great way to encourage students to participate by welcoming them to the course and congratulating them on completing it.

Here are some tips for crafting effective messages for your students.

Tips for preparing automatic messages

Before you start

Please note the following, this is important for both welcome and congratulatory messages:

  • Always include the course name in your message to give students more context.

  • G-Talent policies prohibit promoting other courses or external resources.

  • When creating automated messages, make sure they are not too personalized. Unlike course announcements and promotions, do not include the student's name in your message.

Welcome message

Sent as soon as a student enrolls in a course. Use this message to:

  • Greet students and thank them for registering.

  • Personalize your message by sharing interesting information about yourself.

  • Greet students by explaining what they can achieve in the course

  • Encourage participation and inform students that they can ask questions through support groups.

Congratulatory message

Sent when a student completes a course. This congratulatory message may include the following aspects:

  • Let students know how proud you are of their accomplishments.

  • Explains next steps and emphasizes the application of course concepts.

  • Encourage students to delve deeper into the topic.

Characteristics of communication in a virtual environment

Virtual learning environments, where mixed or distance learning is carried out, are characterized by several aspects that distinguish them from face-to-face contexts. The following general characteristics are considered in relation to the communication activity:

1. The state of relations between teachers and students

The non-presentiality of students requires different forms of communication between teachers and students and the students themselves. Non-verbal communication, which we practice in face-to-face communication through gestures or facial expressions, provides the interlocutor with very valuable information that allows him to interpret to a large extent our communicative intentions, which do not exist in a virtual context. Thus, the expression "You did very well" sent by one student to another in an email can cause it to be misinterpreted because there are no other interpretive elements in face-to-face communication, such as tone, volume, expression, etc.

2. Virtual distance

For mixed students, “communication moments,” which include reading a comment on a forum or watching a video conference, are an opportunity to feel close to teachers and classmates, bridging the so-called “virtual distance.”

3. First image impression

The way we participate in forums or respond to emails with our own words, the correctness of the language, the structure of the text, etc., reflects the first image that others form of us, so we must take care of it, because it is a way of making ourselves "visible" to others, which means that there are negative first impressions that are very difficult to get rid of.

That's why it's so important to plan your writing well and correct it when generating your automatic messages.
