Course Home Page

A course landing page is essential to the success of your online store. This is a great opportunity to encourage students to sign up for your course. If done right, it can also help you appear in search engines. After completing this section, think about why someone would want to sign up for your course.

This is one of the first things prospective students see when searching for courses. The process is similar to purchasing products online. Research product details, look at photos, and read reviews before deciding whether to purchase. After reviewing the information on the course's homepage, decide whether you want to enroll in the course.

Factors driving student decisions

Students decide whether or not to enroll in a course based on three factors:

  1. Course Home Page Content

  2. Course price and discount

  3. Social recognition (number of entries and reviews)

These points help you identify the learners your course is designed for. The goal is to ensure that learners feel your course provides value to them, meets their needs, and provides a positive online learning experience.

Best practices

  • Be honest. Misleading course descriptions can lead to refunds and negative reviews.

  • Think of words that students would use to search for courses on the Internet and use them as keywords in your text.

  • Address students directly, referring to them as "you" rather than "student."

  • Communicative and friendly. He writes in a natural, informative and action-oriented style.

  • Avoid jargon and text that can confuse and alienate new students.

  • Make sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors.

Make sure the course is unique.

Create new content for each course you publish. While there are reasons to use quotes and statistics to back up some key points, repeating someone else’s content can hurt your search visibility. For example, if you have 10 similar course landing pages, search engines will only pick one and prioritize it over the rest. This can happen if you duplicate marketing text on your own webpage or on the course landing website. Keep the text separate and don’t copy and paste it onto another page. Repeated course landing pages can also confuse prospective students as they struggle to understand the differences between each one.

Creating your course home page

1. Course title

The course title is one of the most important elements that help students find and enroll in your course. Remember keywords to help find your course. Titles should be concise and specific. Do not exceed 60 characters.

2. Course subtitles

Short subtitles provide a brief overview of the course content and set precise expectations of what students will learn. Keep the length to 120 characters and list the 3-4 most important areas the course will cover. Include relevant keywords in the subtitles. Review the quality standards for the course title and subtitles to ensure they meet your requirements.

3. Description

Your course description should be at least 200 words long. However, we suggest you write at least 1,000 words. It's much better to write 1,200 to 1,700 words. Your description should be clear and differentiate your course from other courses in our Online Store. Don't reuse descriptions from other courses or repeat information from other sites on your course home page.

When writing your description, keep in mind your target student and any questions they may have before enrolling.

Basic information

These fields are important because they help categorize courses in the online store and make courses easier for students to find.

  • Select your language of instruction and level of experience.

  • When selecting categories and subcategories, select the most specific and appropriate subcategory available. For example, “Full SEO Course” should be listed under “Search Engine Optimization (SEO)” rather than “Digital Marketing.” Within each category are different subcategories, so review all options. Selecting subcategories allows G-Talent to display courses to interested students through our navigation and search system, recommendations, emails, promotions, and more. To ensure consistency in ranking, research categories that list courses similar to yours. This makes it easier for students to find your course when they search for courses on related topics.

  • In the Main Course Content field, tag your course with the most specific and complete topic that summarizes the course content. The main topic is usually mentioned in the course title. For example, 'Completed Tennis Course' should select 'Tennis' as the topic, but 'Sports' is complete but not specific enough. Also, do not select 'tennis serve' as it is too specific and incomplete. Learn more about adding topics to your course.

  • It is important to categorize courses and mark topics correctly so that students can easily find them. G-Talent reserves the right to change categories at any time. This may affect one course or a broader group of courses that are incorrectly categorized due to changes or updates to multiple topics or categories (such as the creation of new topics or categories).

Course images

Course images should be eye-catching, relevant, and representative of the course and brand. Course images are used throughout the site, in ads, and in emails, so make sure your course is engaging and stands out from the rest. Please check our course image quality guidelines to ensure your course images meet our guidelines, as they may differ from other online streaming services and online learning platforms. Please note that unauthorized use of third-party images and logos may violate copyright laws, and you are responsible for any infringement.

Create promotional video

Create a short promotional video for your course (ideally under 2 minutes) that students can watch before deciding whether to enroll in your course. You can also use this promotional video as a marketing tool and post it on other websites (such as YouTube and LinkedIn) to drive traffic to your G-Talent course. Make sure the preview video is displayed by default. Check out our guide to creating promotional videos .

Instructor Profile

The facilitator or instructor's bio is very important when students compare one course to another. They want to know more about you to decide if you are a reliable teacher to teach their subject.

Your teaching profile should reflect the following:

  • Emphasize why you are an expert in the subject you teach.

  • Empathy: If you can connect with your students by sharing examples of how you learned the concepts you are teaching, they will understand the content of your course.

  • Passion: Students don't want to learn from boring teachers. Show your enthusiasm for the subject.

  • Personality: Feel free to talk about aspects of your personal life. Add fun facts about yourself or share your interests. Tell us about your goals, mission, or why you chose to become a G-Talent instructor.

  • Add links to your social media to help students learn more about you and grow your audience.

Use other sections of the course home page.

The course homepage has other areas mentioned above in the course planning process. Please review these sections in the course builder under the desired student section to ensure they are correct and reflect the course as a whole.

1. What you will learn

The text that should be entered after the question “What will students learn in your course?” This is one of the first items prospective students will see in the box labeled “What you will learn” in the syllabus. Check the learning objectives you have set for your course and make sure they are still relevant. Update as needed to accurately reflect the course as a whole, make sure they are quantifiable, and help students decide if the course is right for them.

2. Requirements

It should be in the course requirements or prerequisites section and contain the information that students need to access to complete the course.

3. Who is the target audience for this course?

Refer to your previous work to define your target audience. Based on your answers to these questions, is there a person, profession, or personality that describes your ideal student?
